We are happy to be able to offer for your consideration a French solid brass candle stick. 24 tall high by 7 wide. It is a neo classical piece probably made for an altar candle. My guess is this was originally used for gas lighting in a church.
There were probably six of these three on each side of the tabernacle. This is a brass piece that was originally painted gold to give it a gilded look. Now it has a nice patina with some of the remaining gold still present. It would fit a large pillar candle very nicely. The top opening is 3 inches in diameter.
There is also a hollow tube running through the center so it could be fitted with electricity quite easily. I believe it was one time gas lit. There are three tightening screws on the side which could be removed.
They could also be used to hold a glass globe in place. Im suspecting this was originally fitted with a hand blown glass globe On top. I suspect this was from a church but its just as easily couldve been from a very large mansion or public space. There are no religious symbols on it to indicate religious affiliation. If you have any questions please feel free to ask.
